This is a February 1952 record of Mamie and/or Papa selling tamarind on 4 occasions. A fantastic documentation of African entrepreneurs!
I remember eating so much tamarind right from the tree that my tongue was cut all over. And still I ate some more. The tamarind tree ultimately was located on a plot of land given to Uncle Amorra which he eventually sold to a land developer who built 3 houses on it. I assume February is tamarind season and I hope the tree is still there because when I arrived in Trinidad in a few days I’m going to help myself to tamarind. Wish me luck!
